The Education Safety Association of
Ontario
is a not-for-profit Health and Safety
Association of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
As an entity that specializes in
occupational health
and safety, we provide various educational and training
programs to our clients in the education sector: schools,
colleges, universities, libraries, museums, and art centres/ galleries.
Our commitment is to assist our clients in preventing and
reducing accidents that lead to injuries, occupational
disease and fatalities. We continuously work to instill in
our clients the strong health and safety values that we
advocate as we move ahead on the Road to Zero with the goal
of eliminating all injuries.
The Education Safety Association of Ontario Inc. is a not-for-profit organization incorporated on December 10, 1997 and has been designated as a "Safe Workplace Association" under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (S.O. 1997).
Our vision for education sector workplaces in Ontario is simply this:
People working safely in the safest and healthiest
workplaces in the world.
In order to achieve that vision, we will focus on a single Mission. Our Mission is:
To inspire people in the education sector to work safely
by providing innovative and effective
programs and services.
In the pursuit of our mission, we have identified a number of strategies and shorter term objectives. We have also defined our business model in a number of areas to ensure that we are focused on our mission. Some of the key points are:
- ESAO will operate on a decentralized basis, with a small head office in the Toronto area.
- We will work cooperatively with the other members of the Prevention System (the WSIB, the Ministry of Labour and the other Safe Workplace Associations and Designated Entities).
- We will develop products that use resources effectively and in a manner consistent with our mission and our priorities.
- Our primary market is everyone in the education sector of Ontario. Our secondary market is anyone who can benefit from ESAO programs and services.
- Services and products will be provided to our clients (those who fund us through the WSIB) without charge, or on a cost-recovery basis. Our product and services fee structure requires a higher fee charged to those WSIB-insured firms that are not in the education sector, and a third level of fees for those who are not insured through the WSIB.
ESAO is to focus on the most efficient and cost-effective training delivery and consulting methods, such as "train-the-trainer" courses.
Our core businesses are "workplace injury and illness prevention" and "healthy lifestyle promotion".
Our products and services, which will change from time to time, are developed with these objectives and strategies in mind.
