Intro to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations Workshop
Conferences > Workshops

Under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, employers are required to appoint "competent persons" as supervisors. The definition of competent person includes "... is familiar with this Act and the regulations that apply to the work".  This workshop is intended to be a first step in providing that familiarity.

 

Some of the major topics covered include:

  • History of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Internal Responsibility System

  • An overview of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety system

  • Enforcement and penalties

  • Duties of employers, supervisors and workers

  • Three rights of workers

  • Reporting requirements

  • Overview of regulations made under the Occupational Health & Safety Act

  • Managing health & safety

The workshop includes a hands-on exercise to give participants practice using the Regulation for Industrial Establishments

 

All participants receive a copy of the Carswell Occupational Health & Safety Act Pocket Edition.

 

Clients $20.00 for each participant + HST
Non-Clients $30.00 for each participant + HST

The cost for non Clients for onsite workshops is as follows:

Non-Member Clients $350.00 per 1/2day + $30.00 for each participant + HST
