A proactive response by your association to meet your legislative requirements.
This CD has been developed by ESAO in order to provide the
essential information needed for a comprehensive workplace-
specific WHMIS training program for all workers in low risk occupations. The program will also serve as a foundation for
continued training for those workers in higher risk occupations.
The CD contains an overview of health and safety legislation in Canada that will assist workers’ understanding and application of their basic rights and responsibilities and the duties of their employer and supervisor. Links are provided for the participant to access the applicable health and safety and WHMIS legislation in their jurisdiction. This training program will serve as a foundation for continued training.
The goal of the Workplace Hazardous Material System (WHMIS) CD is to highlight some important features of WHMIS legislation dealing
with hazardous products and workplace safety.
Voiceover narration highlights key information throughout the CD-ROM and the interactive visual components and imbedded links
ensure that the content is accurate, relevant, interesting and easy to understand.
After navigating through the three modules, the employee should:
- Gain the ability to identify where written procedures or rules should apply to the job and feel comfortable asking a supervisor for this information.
- Understand the rights and responsibilities under health and safety legislation across Canada.
- Gain new insight into the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and other potential hazards in the workplace.
- Understand the ways in which hazardous materials can enter the body and cause harm.
- Have the ability to review and understand the labels and safety information provided by suppliers and manufacturers of hazardous products.
Also included on the CD is a checklist that you can print off and review with your supervisor. As a final step a quiz is available that you can complete and upon successful completion print a certificate] for you and your supervisor's records.
