The craft of creating decorative and functional ceramics and pottery has been a constant part of human development, dating back thousands of years.  The art of  ceramics is not  new, and neither is the risk to the artist's health and safety.  Lifting, carrying, bending, the use of potentially dangerous materials and working with extreme heat in an environment combining water with clay, forming slippery objects and potentially slippery floors increase the risk of injury.
