Many jobs in the education sector require people to work alone due to work hours and locations. This workshop will examine the health and safety risks while working alone.
The Working Alone Program has five very important concepts:
- Assessing all working alone situations to determine the risks, conditions or circumstances that may result in injury to the employee working alone,
- Attempting to reduce the probability of such injury occurring,
- Providing a means of securing assistance for workers working alone in the event of personal injury, illness, or other emergency,
- Providing proper employee training, and
- Ensuring regular evaluation of the policy and program
Part one of the workshop will review how to establish a working alone policy and procedures, utilizing ESAO’s new Working Alone Resource Book, and part II of this workshop will look at a variety of scenarios examining the risks and developing sample safe work procedures for these jobs.
