In Ontario, any new worker, of any age on the job, is up to four times more likely to be injured during that month than any other time performing that job (Institute for Work and Health).  That applies to anytime a worker is “new” to the work they are performing – even if it is a new job with the same employer.

New workers need special attention to ensure they understand how to do the assigned tasks safely.

• The definition of new/young worker

• What Ministry of Labour Inspectors look for with respect to the safety of new/young workers

• HSAGS and Prevention System resources available

• Injury demographics for our sectors
